Tania Bass: Fashion and Figure Skating

But New York designer Tania Bass is also paying close attention to the sequins and spandex. After all, the skating isn't the only work of artistry on the ice. Tania has dressed some of the world's top skaters, including Olympic champion Sarah Hughes, who posed in a Bass original for her memorable 2002 Time magazine cover. She also a leading designer for the prêt-à-porter market for individual, ice dance, pairs and synchronized skating. We recently visited Tania's workshop in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, just steps from Broadway and the Theatre District, to better understand the hard work that goes behind her gossamer creations.
